Sport has given me so much. It all started back in 1994, when a very un-athletic me was selected to be part of a team to row at the Australian National Championships. To this day, I have no idea how I was selected...obviously the coaches saw something that I didn't. My parents agreed to let me take on this mega sport challenge - for which I'm so grateful. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't rowed to such an elite level. My teenage life changed quite radical
Do you think child sexual abuse is wrong? I really hope your answer is yes. If it is, then let's start looking beneath the surface. When I shared I was running in Jamaica, lots of people replied, 'oh it's amazing there. Paradise. Life is so chill...reggae, ganga and beautiful beaches.’ Yup, on the surface. It's not about he. It's not about she. It's about us!
One of the biggest impacts I've noticed as I run around the world, is that men want to join in to this dialogue on sexual violence.
During my run in Rwanda back in September 2016, two local men joined me for the whole 16 kilometres. We run along the shores of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi and right on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). A group of ladies also joined the run but they ran for a shorter dis
During 16 Days of Activism 2017 and a particularly rough day for me, I was inspired to right this poem for a Facebook post. So many of us are surviving something and at times, it's hard to see past the struggle. I had such an amazing response on Facebook that I thought I would share this on my blog. May it inspire you and give you hope. You are not alone! Surviving? You know those dark moments, the ones when think you won't make it through. When the idea of staying in bed for
