About The Event
Join me on 30 May for this stay at home challenge to help survivors of sexual violence.
It's the 2nd Footsteps To Inspire #stayathomechallenge. Together we are joining forces around the world and using sport to help peacefully end sexual violence. This challenge is extra special because we are going to travel virtually to country 56 - The Netherlands.
Are you signed up already?
I'm sharing updates and info via Facebook so please feel free to head across and connect. Here is the direct link: https://www.facebook.com/events/1317409431981667/
Normally I should be running 16km of beach in every country of the world with the goal to help survivors and find ways to peacefully end sexual violence. BUT coronavirus has me in lockdown and country 56 to 75 remain elusive. It doesn't mean I need to stop. There are other ways to use sport for the same goal and reach lots of people around the world.
How can sport, running or a stay at home challenge end sexual violence?
One of the biggest hurdles facing survivors of sexual violence is the fear to tell someone. This will prevent them from getting the help they need to heal or seek justice. For children, it is the risk of repeated abuse because no one knows.
Coming together for this challenge shows survivors they are not alone. If you have friends, family or colleagues affected by sexual violence, your actions of support lets them know that that you are someone who they can reach out to. Trust me, this is life changing.
Joining me also inspires others to do the same and hopefully encourages them to be part of the next challenge. The more people who join the movement, the more we send a signal that it’s okay and safe to talk about sexual violence.
I would ❤️ if you can JOIN ME on 30 May. Do what you can and let's be part of something big.
